The breakdown of the UCSF Community by Gender includes faculty, staff, postdocs, trainees and students. In total, there are 43,190 people at UCSF – 63 percent are female, and 32.2 percent are male.
UCSF Faculty includes 5,436 total people, or 12.6 percent of the total UCSF population. Females make up 48.9 percent of UCSF faculty; males make up 44.2 percent. By ethnicity, 55.3 percent identify as white; 27.6 percent identify as Asian; 6.6 percent identify as Hispanic; 3.6 percent identify as African American; 1.9 percent identify as two or more races. Less than 1 percent identify as Native American/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
UCSF Staff includes 31,801 total people, or 73.9 percent of the total UCSF population. Females make up 66.3 percent of UCSF staff, while males make up 28.8 percent. By ethnicity, 38.7 percent identify as Asian; 29.2 percent identify as white; 16.3 percent identify as Hispanic; 8.7 percent identify as African American; and 3.1 percent identify as two or more races. Less than 1 percent identify as Native American/Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
UCSF Postdocs, trainees and students include 5,953 total people, or 13.8 percent of the total UCSF population. Females make up 58.9 percent of UCSF faculty, while males make up 39.6 percent. By ethnicity, 25.7 percent identify as Asian; 24.1 percent identify as White; 11.4 percent identify as Hispanic; 8.2 percent identify as two or more races, and 6.3 percent identify as African American. Less than 1 percent identify as Native American/Alaskan Native or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.
