Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cecile Puretz as ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)/504 Compliance Officer in the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD), effective July 1, 2026. Cecile brings over 15 years leadership in disability access and compliance, most recently serving as the inaugural Assistant Director of Disability Access and Inclusion in the Office of Opportunity and Outreach at UCSF since 2022.

The ADA/504 Compliance Officer is a senior leadership role that works closely with partners across campus and UCSF Health, community members, and individuals with disabilities at UCSF to advance accessibility and ADA compliance. The position leads institutional efforts to identify and remove barriers, develop sustainable accessibility solutions, and strengthen UCSF's commitment to equitable access while advancing the university's strategic priorities.

Prior to joining UCSF, Cecile founded and led the accessibility program at The Contemporary Jewish Museum, spearheading ADA compliance efforts and developing programs that expanded access for audiences with disabilities. Cecile is the co-founder of the Bay Area Arts Access Collective (BAAAC), a professional network aimed at increasing access to arts and cultural organizations for people with disabilities. She has served as a consultant and subject-matter expert in ADA compliance and accessibility for community organizations and San Francisco agencies including the Department on Disability and Aging Services (DAS) and the Office on Disability and Accessibility (ODA). Cecile has presented nationally and internationally on best practices for advancing disability access and inclusion in the arts, public health, and policy sectors.

Cecile’s work in accessibility has been recognized with awards from the World Institute on Disability (WID) and Support for Families of Children with Disabilities. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master of Arts in Education from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.

Please join me in congratulating Cecile on her new position. I also want to thank OPHD Associate Director Deborah Ohiomoba for her leadership while serving as the Interim ADA/504 Compliance Officer over the past 14 months.
